The Texas Homeland Security Group (THSG) was formed to address the wide spectrum of Homeland Security issues which face both the State of Texas and the Nation. The fundamental premise is that a consortium of key Texas universities provides more integrated capabilities and expertise to solve security issues than any single university . . . the sum of parts is greater than the whole. The THSG will promote, develop and disseminate scientific, educational, training and policy solutions to issues affecting the public and private sectors in the State of Texas, the United States, Mexico and other identified areas.

The THSG is a team effort and will attract and apply research funding to address important issues in homeland security and border security. Each university has tremendous existing and emerging strengths that create a team synergy benefiting all of the universities, as well as the State and Nation.

THSG currently includes faculty from Texas A&M Engineering, The University of Texas - El Paso, Texas A&M International University, and The University of Texas - San Antonio.
